A Space Where Art and Technology Combine
Art and technology define and continue to reshape the world we live in. New genres of art that combine art and technologyㅡsuch as digital art, kinetic art, or NFTsㅡare being created and developed continuously. In line with this change, LG Display has been providing a medium to connect art with technology in collaboration with artists, art galleries, and museums. Whereas the previous OLED models were utilized to express the intended colors of the artist through its uniquely superior color expression and perfect black, Transparent OLED came into the limelight among pioneering artists as an alluring creative tool to present unprecedented immersion and depth while blurring the boundaries of the surrounding environment.
This time, the merging of art and technology takes place in ARTECHOUSE, a groundbreaking experiential space built for technology-driven artists who create immersive and interactive art exhibitions.

Discover the ephemeral beauty of butterflies and nature, PIXELBLOOM
Since 2018, ARTECHOUSE DC has been marking the beginning of each Spring with its original immersive exhibition PIXELBLOOM which draws from both nature and human interaction. This year’s sixth cherry blossom exhibition, PIXELBLOOM: Timeless Butterflies, offers an exploration of various layers of a butterfly’s life cycle and its relationship to the environment through a series of interactive installations.
At the heart of PIXELBLOOM: Timeless Butterflies is a virtual microcosm of flourishing cherry blossoms with dynamic visuals created through an unmatched pixel density and highly immersive original soundscape.
Blooming Strings: LG Display’s Expression of Art and Technology
LG Display has partnered with ARTECHOUSE to help further its mission of empowering artists with the latest tools and technologies as well as inspiring creative innovation.
Utilized with layers of LG Display’s Transparent OLED, the installation Blooming Strings invites visitors to “play” the instrument as they move through the space, continuing the iteration of ARTECHOUSE Studio’s concept of interactive digital instruments. By approaching each screen, visitors can "strum" the flowers on the vineㅡmuch like a string instrument made from natureㅡand lead them to bloom. A tunnel of flower petals blows through the Z-axis of the screens, adding to the depth of the physical setup of the displays.
– Riki Kim, Executive Creative Director
LG Display’s Transparent OLED has enabled ARTECHOUSE Studio to take the concept of playing and interacting with digital instruments in real life and elevate it to the next level. Not only can people trigger interactivity on and interact with each individual screen, but by placing the eight screens on a 3rd axis – the Z-axis – Transparent OLED has made it possible for ARTECHOUSE Studio to transform the concept from 2D to 3D.
The eight screens on this digital musical instrument and each screen plays a different note of a scale. Reminiscent of the eight notes on a western diatonic scale, the idea of a return to the beginning reflects the exhibitions’ celebration of the lifecycle of a butterfly.
